Rocking The Boston Phoenix

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

The Boston Phoenix covered Antenna Alliance recently. Beyond the awesome exposure, we’re very happy that bands from around the area have started to pick up on the idea and have come wanting to join up with the Alliance family.

We’re looking forward to producing lots of content with several of our affiliates this coming Janurary and our first compilation should be making its way to a college radio station near you later that month.

As always, we’re looking for interested bands, radio stations, and other people committed to putting Free Culture theory to practice. And people who generally rock out. Let us know if you’d like to be involved at antalliance@gmail.com

CCed Mp3’s for some of our affiliated music outfits are on their way even as I write this. Stay tuned, kids.

Inaugural Antenna Alliance Post

We’re really excited that this idea has become something which can be executed and, with all of the radio stations ready, and a good seed of excited artists, we’re ready, too.

Essentially what we’re doing is trying out a sustainable model for releasing and creating music which doesn’t put the means of creativity in the hands of a label or an “all rights reserved” phrase. Some rights are worth reserving, others, however, like being able to make a mix tape for a friend, or download a track or album, deserve to be more flexible and permissive.

We’re focusing on the Boston community, we’re students, DJs, artists, and musicians who participate within it, and we’d like to see it thrive. There will be shows, MP3 releases, numbered EP and compilation releases, and since we’re a no-profit label, any profits from our work will go directly to the affiliated band, we’re pretty sure this makes sense.
